Initiation 2017

Last Sunday, February 6th, the pledge of class of 2016 were welcomed into the brotherhood of the Delta Chi Fraternity. The ceremony began at 9 a.m. and the members of the house watched in formal attire as their new 21 brothers were initiated. We were pleased to welcome distinguished alumnus and guest to the house, Dale Wiley '63, who watched his grandson, Jack Ryan, be initiated and form a bond that will last a lifetime. These group of men have grown as individuals, and learned how to be successful in many ways over the course of their associate membership. As active members, we look forward to seeing how you all can help push the house in a positive direction, and take on Exec positions.

Dinner with Neeli Bendapudi

This Monday, January 23rd, the men had the pleasure of having dinner with an experienced professional and a terrific person, Neeli Bendapudi. She was formerly the dean of the business school here at KU, but now she acts as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for the university. She shared her wisdom and advice on how she got her position. She also provided leadership advice and spoke on why she loves KU. She said how nice and down-to-earth the people are at KU, opposed to other places. Lastly, she did not shy away from expressing her interest in becoming the newest chancellor for the university, as her name was mentioned as a potential candidate. Thanks to Neeli for taking time out of her day to eat and chat with us!

Front row at Tuesday's game

The boys drew group number 1 for Tuesday's basketball game vs. Long Beach State. Number 1 holds special significance because it means front row of the student section in the best home court in the country! KU Athletics also chose our group as the camping group of the week, which means we recieved a special shout out on the scoreboard in front of a sold out crowd, and also received two Academy Sports gift cards. This was an unforgettable experience that our guys won't forget. Front row with TV time, camping group of the week, and a special shoutout from the KU Athletics twitter.

Delta Chi Of The Week (11/14/16)

2016-2017 Exec Board
Name: Alex Langdon
Position: President
Major: Finance and Marketing
Hometown: Denver, CO

Why did you join Delta Chi? – I really liked the great network of guys in the chapter, and the prominent alumni. During this past summer, I went to the international convention for Delta Chi, and I bonded with delta chi brothers from across the country. That experience helped remind me why I joined.

What’s your favorite part about the fraternity? – I think when you get any opportunity to get your pledge class together, and to relive the funny moments of pledge ship, and you're all together again.

Do you have any outside involvement other than the house? – Various business clubs and organizations

What made you want to become president? – Main reason is to keep moving the house forward, give back to community, and keep the memories alive

What are your plans after college? – I took a job at Ernst and Young in downtown KC. I will be working in the consultant division next August.

October Recap

This October, the men of Delta Chi were busy with a successful Homecoming week, Dad's weekend, and other philanthropy events.

On the weekend of October 1st, the brothers kicked off a great weekend with their dads. It started by having a father/son golf tournament at Eagle Bend early Saturday morning. Later, Chef Ryan grilled out for the chapter while the guys could enjoy some fun games on the front lawn. The guys capped off their night by celebrating the start of basketball season at the annual Late Night in the Phog.

After Fall Break, the Annual Kimball Scholarship Meeting took place on October 15th.
The associate members gathered in the living room to watch the brothers who won the scholarship accept their awards at this ceremony.

During the week of October 17th, the men of Delta Chi were paired with Kappa Alpha Theta and the men of Zeta Beta Tau as their homecoming partners. The week was spent preparing the homecoming float, and pomping with both houses. All three houses participated in Jayhawk Jingles, a performance-based competition that takes place during this week. Our homecoming chalk mural was presented with the rest of the Greek murals on Wescoe Beach. The annual parade of floats on Massachusetts Street on Friday night ended a successful Homecoming week.

The men ended the month with a community service event at Royal Crest Lanes helping out with the Douglas County Special Olympics. They helped the participants during their games. Thank you to our community service chair, Preston Montegomery, for organizing this event!
